18 July 2023Proposal for the building of a distillery at Mulchaich

There is a proposal for the building of a new distillery on a field between the archaeological remains of the two settlements at Mulchaich, which may be related to historic distilleries from the 18th Century. More info here - https://www.nosas.co.uk/visitmulchaichdistillery.asp
In advance of this proposed development, there will be a public consultation meeting in the Ferintosh Hall on Thursday 27th, between 4 and 7pm. It is planned to be a drop-in, a chance to discuss any aspect of the plans with the architect, Gareth Roberts, and a colleague or two. There will be some information panels to show what is proposed, and some feedback sheets for people to give their thoughts, if they would prefer not to give their impressions directly.

Anyone involved with NOSAS, or who has an interest in the site, is welcome to attend. The meeting won’t be advertised, but anyone can pop in if they are interested.

Subject: Presentation of plans for Mulchaich Farm

Good afternoon,

I was given your details by Lachlan from Highland Archaeology as one of the archaeological stakeholders in the area. You may have already been told about this by NOSAS, but I thought it best to invite you – and any other interested parties - directly to this presentation.

We have been working with Morris Dalgetty for a while to bring distilling back to Ferintosh and the Black Isle, given the story of the privilege and the archaeological heritage of the area.

Over the last few months we have been designing a building group which is planned to be placed in the ploughed field to the north west of the settlement which contains the stone base.

We will be holding a drop-in presentation to show the current plans on Thursday 27th July between 4 and 7pm at the Ferintosh hall. Please feel free to attend, we would welcome all feedback.

I hope to meet you then, Gareth
