From December 2009 to May 2010 the history of the community had been explored by Archaeology for Communities in the Highlands (ARCH) and the Black Isle Heritage Memories Project, the communities being Avoch, Culbokie, Tore and the parish of Killearnan.  The background to the project can be accessed here.
