Funding of the Wee Bus
The residents in the FCC area agreed to the removal by THC/Stagecoach of some daytime subsidised services to/from Inverness with therefore THC saving in their annual budget by not paying the subsidy. In return, THC agreed to fund the Wee Bus and an administrative contract (to CSI Ross-shire) that also included payment for the daytime drivers. The net effect on the THC budget overall is a £30K pa saving minimum.
In return for the loss of daytime services (which were poorly used), the FCC area residents have gained a 24/7 Wee Bus service which is demand-responsive - booked according to the residents' wishes with the added benefit of 'house to destination' service.
