Culbokie WRI - a brief history, 1929 - 2005

What started off with these press cuttings (see below in Gallery) being discovered in a scrap book, which reinforces our feeling that there must be lots of similar sources of information to be discovered and revealed, resulted in this brief history surfacing. 

When the decision was made in December 2005 to close the Culbokie SWRI the then Secretary, Wendy Nganasurian, undertook to research the history as from 1957 which can be accessed here. Owing to the expense involved in colour printing and processing the old photographs the decision was taken to accept the poor quality of photocopying. On completion of the history all the material was handed in to the Highland Archive Centre.

We have taken the liberty of inserting into the text any material that we felt would enhance the story. Hopefully as we continue to make contact with former members who are stiil in the Community we will be able to display further photographs etc. We are extremely grateful to those who have provided material.
