Indoor Bowling Club historical background
The Club was formed in 1978 when a group of residents of Culbokie met and appointed office bearers who made enquiries about purchasing some second-hand equipment to get the Club up and running. They managed to get two carpets with underfelts for £30. The Club was up and running, meeting weekly on Fridays. One of the founder members is a well-known local farmer, Don Dingwall.
ln order to raise funds to buy new equipment the club held several very successful Whist Drives and in 1981 were able to purchase two new carpets and four sets of bowls. They joined the Black Isle and District Indoor Bowling League in 1982.
Members of all abilities now meet Wednesdays in Findon Hall - 7.30pm to 9.30pm October to April. There is also an informal meet with our near neighbours Resolis Bowling Club and a chance to bring partners along to our annual Christmas dinner.
Our game is known as short carpet bowls so by way of a change at the end of the season members have a trip to Inverness Bowling Stadium to experience full length bowling which they always find most enjoyable.
We are a friendly club and it is a pleasant way to spend an evening. Bowls are available for prospective members to try the game. New members are welcome. Chairman for the 2024 - 2025 season is Andrew Clifton and the latest publicity can be seen in the Gallery below.
