Petanque Club historical background
In September 1990 Don Dingwall, a local farmer, donated a strip of land behind the Culbokie Inn and the Culbokie Petanque Club was formed by Harry Smith, Irene Smith and Bob McColl. Play started in August 1991 and competitions were played all over Scotland. Teams travelled north to play against Culbokie and members came from Inverness to participate until they formed their own Inverness petanque club. The Inn allowed members to use their toilets and drinks were often bought behind the bar.
