Castle Craig

The History Group are currently not planning to go into any detail of the role of Castle Craig in the history of Culbokie. However, it does play a significant part in the history of the area and Scotland so we have decided to give "browsers" the opportunity of learning about our heritage.

June 2019 Castle Craig excavation

Some of you will have heard that an American archaeologist, Connie Rodriguez, conducted an initial superficial dig at the Castle Craig site on the Black Isle last year. She brought some American students with her. Together they cleared some trenches in a courtyard to the side of the scheduled castle. She’s planning to come back again this year and is asking for help – both to clear the vegetation at the start of the dig (June 7-9) and then with the dig itself in the four weeks after that.
