Findon Hall

In 2020 a decision was made to take advantage of the shut-down of all facilities due to the COVID-19 situation to re-roof the Hall. The story of this project and supporting photographs can be viewed here.

November 2021

In 1975 the demolition of the old hall took place and a selection of photographs taken by Murdo Bethune of the construction of the new Hall can be viewed here.

Possibly this was taken just prior to the hall's demolition.

Not many maps show the true footprint of the original hall. This map was used by Highland Council in 1977.

The fund-raising schedule for 1907 where the Hall Committee were raising funds to eliminate the debt from the building of the Hall.

The original was captioned [taken from the field to the north, down the hill a bit looking up to the old school and Findon Hall and a row of thatched cottages.]More detail of this location in the next photograph.

As can be seen here the viewpoint was not from the north but to the north. 1994 - view of the cottages on the left of the previous photograph. Abandoned when Glentyan on the left was built by the Bethunes

This area went under the name of {Schoolcroft}. The current original cottages of modern Schoolcroft are on the extreme left-hand edge of the image.

The current view - the cottages were located at the position of the blue plastic in bottom right-hand corner.
