Metal Detecting

On the 16th February 2016 Culbokie Community Trust invited local metal detectorists to investigate the future village development site at Glascairn. The site was considered to be the most likely area where markets would have taken place and this was supported by the finds including coins. The south-western boundary proved the most fruitful area.

It was anticipated that the developer would be required as part of the planning process to instigate an archaeological survey as can seen here.  However we were keen to make a start. Some of the finds can be seen in the Gallery below and await the time when they can be displayed.

The detectorists attracted interest and were invited to search a nearby field for a lost wedding ring which was successful - a good day all considered.
