Kessock Bridge design document
One of the most significant historical influences on Culbokie was the construction of the Kessock Bridge during the late 1970s with its opening in 1982 allowing the newly constructed A9 across the Black Isle to connect with the Cromarty Bridge already opened in 1979. Recently one of our contributors whilst checking through their research material and came across part of a significant document relating to the preparation for the construction of the Kessock Bridge. It is part of a Paper presented to mmmmmmmmmmmmm entitled “The Kessock Bridge design-and-build contract, and proposals for managing similar contracts.” prepared by I. CLEMENTS, FICE, FIStructE and if you have wondered why we hear so often of major civil engineering projects (dualling of the A9 for instance) taking so long to come to fruition and are plagued with problems this document goes some way to explain the lengths gone to in preparing for the contract.
