Balnatua

Our little estate of 15 houses in Balnatua is now 20+ years old having been started in 1998. We still have some of the original inhabitants, including ourselves whose reminiscences with photographs can be found  here.

Interestingly the builders applied to Highland Council to keep the original name of the area as the street name..Baile na Tullach, this was refused so we got the anglicised version of Balnatua which was shown on the Aitken 1769 map, it hadn't occurred to us that it was the anglicized version - but then he was an English surveyor, I believe. I remember having a chat on one occasion with the builders after they told us that THC had turned down their proposal for the original name and agreeing that a completely different relevant name for the street would be preferable to the anglicised version of the original name for the area.
